Final year middle school pupils

5 final year middle school pupils were selected in this project call. By May 31, 2025 the pupils had the opportunity to take individual tours of the Impresia Hotel closest to their place of residence, to get to know the daily hotel operations and different hotel departments, as well as to meet the hotel staff and learn more about hotel industry occupations. In collaboration with project partners, the pupils also had the opportunity to find out more about the occupations in travel agencies specializing in luxury tourism and high-category camps.

High school pupils

51 high school pupils were selected in this project call. By May 31, 2025 the pupils had the opportunity to take individual tours of the Impresia Hotel closest to their place of residence, to learn more about different hotel departments, to get to know the hotel staff and receive more information about the hotel industry occupations and career advice. In collaboration with project partners, the pupils also had the opportunity to find out more about the occupations in travel agencies specializing in luxury tourism and high-category camps.

In addition, the selected pupils had an opportunity to participate in the Open Door Event, and meet with seasoned hospitality professionals from the Impresia Hotels team who offered valuable guidance on hospitality and tourism careers.

Students

5 business school and college students with hospitality and tourism majors were selected in this project call. The students had the opportunity to take part in a two-day workshop with the Impresia Hotels team about highly demanding personalized customer service, focusing on creating unique experiences and anticipating the needs of elite customers at luxury boutique hotels.

Pupils and students were selected to take part in the project according to their motivational letters expressing their interest in participating in the project, and some of their messages and thoughts about tourism and different occupations are illustrated below:

  • I find it particularly interesting how everything is always organized perfectly, how the staff never takes their smiles off their faces. I would like to know more about a regular day at work of a manager, a maître d’, a receptionist, a chef. I would also like to know what it is like to work under pressure during high season, but what interests me the most, and what fascinates me, is that all hotel sectors together always create unforgettable stories for their guests.
  • As a pupil in a high school culinary program, I know that food and catering do not only represent a basic human need but are key factors in the promotion of culture, tradition and tourism of a particular destination. Gastro-tourism, based on authentic, specific local dishes and sustainable practices, has a strong appeal to tourists and improves competitiveness of a destination on the global scene.
  • Business-wise, tourism means future because today’s innovations such as robots will never be able to replace interpersonal relationships, e.g. a guest will not feel the same when served by a robot in a restaurant or when served by a smiling and cheerful attendant.
  • In the hotel industry, the hotel receptionist and porter are two professions that I find extremely interesting. Their continuous interactions with guests are especially appealing to me personally. I like to make people happy by being decent and professional, and to closely observe their positive feedback that makes my day.
  • When it comes to the hotel industry, I am particularly interested in learning more about the hotel management on a daily basis: about the challenges, tasks and issues hotel managers are faced with every day, but also about the new trends in hotel management, especially sustainability-wise.
  • To me, the most interesting occupation in the hotel industry is a chef because I like to cook and work in the kitchen, but Food and Beverage Manager is also an interesting occupation to me. I would like to know more about the way kitchen works, especially in high-quality hotels.
  • I would like to know what different hotel departments, such as reception, housekeeping and management, look like. I want to learn more about their arrangements and organization that make everything function perfectly. I would also like to know how they solve problems, and impress guests with special services or surprises to boot. I am especially interested in how hotels design promotions and win over guests to choose them as their destination. I would like to learn about what I could do in the future if I make up my mind to work at a hotel because I think I could develop in this industry and learn a lot of new stuff.
