“Discover Our Stories” Program within “Sustainable Tourism, Sustainable Careers – Fast Forward to Excellence” Project

Building a skilled hospitality workforce through inspirational stories and development opportunities

Invitation to final-year primary school students and secondary school students

The “Discover Our Stories” programme has been implemented by the Impresia Association of Unique Croatian Hotels for the fifth consecutive year, this year as part of the wider project “Sustainable Tourism, Sustainable Careers – Fast Forward to Excellence”. The project is implemented in partnership with the Croatian Association of Hotel Entrepreneurs (UPUHH), the Camping Association of Croatia (KUH) and Jeunes Restaurateurs Croatia (JRE), with the support and co-financing of the Ministry of Tourism and Sport and numerous associated partners.

We invite students to take part in the project and learn first-hand about professions and career development opportunities in tourism.

Applications

Final-year primary school students

As part of this call, up to 15 final-year primary school students will be selected. They will have the opportunity to visit the hotel closest to their place of residence, learn how the hotel operates and how its different departments work, meet hotel employees and find out more about careers in the hotel industry. In cooperation with the project partners, students will also have the opportunity to learn about careers in travel agencies specialising in luxury tourism, high-category campsites and top-tier restaurants.
All interested students are invited to submit a motivation letter by 15 October 2026 to info@impresiacroatia.com.

The motivation letter should include the following basic information:

  • Applicant’s full name, residential address and contact email address
  • Name and address of the primary school and the grade attended

And answers to the following questions:

  • What does tourism mean to you? (max. 100 words)
  • Which jobs in the hotel industry seem interesting to you and why? (max. 100 words)

Secondary school students

As part of this call, up to 45 secondary school students will be selected. They will have the opportunity to visit the hotel closest to their place of residence, learn about its different departments, meet hotel employees, find out more about careers in the hotel industry and receive advice on starting a career. In cooperation with the project partners, students will also have the opportunity to learn about careers in travel agencies specialising in luxury tourism, high-category campsites and top-tier restaurants.

All interested students are invited to submit a motivation letter by 15 October 2026 to info@impresiacroatia.com.

The motivation letter should include the following basic information:

  • Applicant’s full name, residential address and contact email address
  • Name and address of the secondary school and the grade attended

And answers to the following questions:

  • What does tourism mean to you? (max. 100 words)
  • Which jobs in the hotel industry seem interesting to you and why? (max. 100 words)
  • What are you particularly interested in within the hotel industry? (max. 100 words)

From the classroom to a real working environment

Through the program, students visited unique member hotels and partners, and had the opportunity to meet and speak directly with professionals from different departments. In this way, they gained a better understanding of what everyday work in luxury tourism, hotel management and hospitality looks like, as well as which skills are important for long-term professional development.

Ecole Ducasse masterclass

Several selected students had the opportunity to take part in the prestigious Ecole Ducasse Masterclass in Split, where they learned about the highest standards of contemporary gastronomy alongside international experts. Through practical work, observation and assisting, the students gained a unique insight into the techniques, precision and creativity behind outstanding culinary excellence.
